Tuition, Cancellation & Refund Policy
How tuition is billed, how to cancel or transfer a seat, and the refund schedule that applies to every Tejas Test Prep cohort.
Effective September 28, 2026 · Last updated September 28, 2026
Plain-English summary. Cancel within three business days of confirming and you get everything back. Cancel before the term starts and you get everything back less a small administration fee. After it starts, you get a pro-rata refund on the schedule below, and after the halfway point you don't. If we cancel, you get everything back, always. Sit the first two sessions, decide it isn't for you, and tell us before the third — full refund, no argument.
1. What this covers
This policy applies to every Tejas Test Prep cohort, in person or online, and forms part of the Terms of Service. Where a written enrollment confirmation says something different, the confirmation governs for that enrollment.
Tejas Test Prep is an academic test-preparation program: it prepares students for the SAT, the PSAT/NMSQT and the ACT. It does not award a vocational credential and does not lead to employment in a licensed occupation.
The refund terms below are ours, set voluntarily. If any law that applies to this program sets out a refund schedule more favourable to you than the one below, that schedule governs, and we will apply it without you having to ask.
2. Tuition and how it is billed
- Tuition for a term is the figure in your written enrollment confirmation. Nothing is charged when you submit the enrollment form.
- A seat is held once the deposit or first installment is paid. The deposit is part of tuition, not an addition to it.
- Installments. Tuition may be paid in two equal installments: half when the seat is reserved, and half thirty days later. There is no fee and no interest, and you do not need to ask or qualify. Paying in full at enrollment is equally fine.
- Failed payments. If an installment fails we will email you and give 10 days to resolve it before any interruption to portal access. We do not charge a late fee.
- Financial hardship. Tell us. We consider need-based and merit-based partial scholarships case by case, and we would rather have the conversation than lose the student.
3. Your three-day cancellation right
You may cancel for any reason within three business days of the date on your written enrollment confirmation, and receive a full refund of everything paid, with no deduction of any kind.
Email admin@tejastestprep.com with the word "Cancel". The date we receive the email is the date of cancellation. We will confirm in writing within one business day and refund within ten.
This right is ours, given voluntarily, and it sits on top of any cancellation right the law gives you.
4. The refund schedule
After the three-day window, refunds follow the table below. "Session" means a scheduled live session of your cohort, whether or not the student attended.
Every percentage below is a percentage of the total tuition for your term — not of whatever you happen to have paid so far. That distinction matters if you are paying in installments, and there is a worked example under the table.
| When you cancel | Refund of total tuition |
|---|---|
| Within 3 business days of confirmation | 100%, no deduction |
| More than 14 days before the first session | 100% less a $150 administration fee |
| 14 days or fewer before the first session | 90% |
| After session 1 and before session 3 first-two-sessions guarantee | 100%, no deduction |
| After session 3, through session 5 | 75% |
| After session 5, through session 8 | 50% |
| After session 8, through session 10 | 25% |
| After session 10 | No refund |
If you are paying in installments. Work out the amount we keep — the total tuition, less the refund percentage above. If you have paid more than that, we refund you the difference. If you have paid less, we cancel every remaining installment and ask for nothing further. You will never be chased for an installment on a course you have canceled, and you will never owe more than the amount the table leaves us.
A worked example. Tuition is $1,799, paid as two installments of $899.50. You pay the first, then cancel after session 5 — the 50% band. Half of $1,799 is $899.50, which is exactly what you have paid: nothing to refund, nothing further to pay, and your second installment is canceled. Had you canceled after session 8 instead — the 25% band — we would keep $449.75 and refund you $449.75.
5. The first-two-sessions guarantee
We would rather a family left early than sat through sixteen weeks of something that was not right for them.
If you attend the first two live sessions and decide the course is not for the student, tell us in writing before the third session begins and we will refund everything you have paid, in full, with no administration fee and no questions. Portal access ends at that point.
This applies once per student per program. We ask only that the student actually attended both sessions, since the point is that you have seen the teaching.
6. Transfers, deferrals and missed sessions
- Moving to a later term before the first session: free, once. A second move carries the $150 administration fee. Tuition paid transfers in full; if the later term is priced differently you pay or we refund the difference.
- Moving between in-person and online: free at any point, seat availability permitting.
- Changing the enrolled student (for example, to a sibling) before the first session: free.
- Missed sessions. A session the student misses is not refundable and does not extend the term. Recordings, where they exist, and the corresponding portal modules remain available, and we will schedule catch-up office hours where we reasonably can.
- Extended illness or family emergency. If a student cannot continue for a serious reason, contact us. We will move them to a later term at no charge, or refund the unused portion on a pro-rata basis, whichever you prefer. This overrides the table in section 4, and we do not require documentation beyond your word.
7. If we cancel or cannot deliver
- If we cancel a cohort before it starts, or do not run it, you receive a 100% refund of everything paid, within ten business days. No fee is deducted.
- If we end a cohort after it starts, you receive a pro-rata refund of the sessions not delivered, plus the full value of any examinations not administered, and you keep portal access for the twelve months already paid for.
- If we cannot deliver a session for a reason outside our control, we will reschedule it, move it online, or refund that session's pro-rata value — your choice, not ours.
- If we decline or end an enrollment under section 3 of the Terms because we conclude we cannot serve the student well, you receive a 100% refund, regardless of how far into the term we are.
8. If we end an enrollment for misconduct
Where we end an enrollment for a serious or repeated breach of the acceptable-use section of the Terms of Service — distributing our materials, abusive conduct toward an instructor or another student, or sitting an examination in another student's name — the refund is calculated under the schedule in section 4 as at the date of dismissal, and no administration fee is waived. We will put the reason in writing and give you a chance to respond before a dismissal takes effect, unless someone's safety requires otherwise.
9. How refunds are made
- Request a refund by emailing admin@tejastestprep.com. The date we receive it is the date used to calculate the refund.
- We acknowledge within one business day and pay within ten business days of the cancellation date.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method. If that is impossible we will agree another method with you.
- We do not charge a processing fee on a refund and we do not deduct payment processor fees from it.
- Refunds are of tuition. They do not cover what you spent on College Board or ACT registration fees, travel, or anything else paid to a third party.
10. Scores and refunds
We do not offer a score-based guarantee, and no refund is available on the basis that a student's score did not rise by a particular amount. Section 7 of the Terms of Service explains why we will not make a promise we cannot honestly keep.
What we do offer instead is section 5: see the teaching for yourself in the first two sessions, and take your money back if it is not what you were promised.
11. If you disagree with a refund decision
Email us and say so. A refund decision is reviewed by Dr. Karnati personally, and we will give you a written answer within ten business days. If that does not resolve it, the dispute process in section 14 of the Terms of Service applies.
Please raise it with us before disputing a charge with your card issuer. A chargeback filed without contacting us first costs us the disputed amount plus a fee, and there is nothing in this policy that a conversation cannot settle faster.
